U. S. Steel Tubular Products Honors 2010 Chief Roughneck Awardee

U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc. announced that Aubrey K. McClendon, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Chesapeake Energy Corp., is the recipient of its Chief Roughneck Award for 2010.

The prestigious Chief Roughneck Award was created in 1955 to honor the lifetime achievements of petroleum industry leaders.

To this day, U. S. Steel Tubular Products continues to present the award, which is widely recognized as one of the industry's highest honors.
McClendon was presented with the award’s traditional Chief Roughneck bronze bust and hard hat by U. S. Steel Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer John H. Goodish during the 81st annual meeting of the Independent Petroleum Association of America.

"Aubrey McClendon's success in this demanding industry, particularly in the field of unconventional resource development, is a tribute to his leadership skills and entrepreneurial spirit," said Goodish.  "Those qualities and many others exhibited by Aubrey every day made him a natural choice for this year's Chief Roughneck Award."

McClendon has served as Chesapeake Energy’s CEO and Chairman of the Board since co-founding the corporation in 1989. Prior to that time (1982 to 1989), McClendon was an independent producer of oil and natural gas. He graduated from Duke University in 1981.

U. S. Steel Tubular Products, Inc., a subsidiary of United States Steel Corp., is the largest tubular products manufacturer in North America, with total annual production capability of 2.8 million net tons. Energy industry products include casing, tubing, line pipe and couplings.
