U. S. Steel Names General Manager of Business Planning

United States Steel Corp. announced the appointment of Deborah A. Grabe to the position of General Manager—Business Planning.
 
In her new position, Grabe, 44, will be responsible for planning and scheduling production at all of U. S. Steel's North American steelmaking and finishing facilities. She will report to John C. Price, who was recently appointed Vice President—Supply Chain.
 
Grabe's career at U. S. Steel began in 1988 as a Management Associate in the company's purchasing department at its Pittsburgh headquarters. She advanced through increasingly responsible roles in purchasing, finishing operations at Mon Valley Works near Pittsburgh, raw materials planning, procurement, distribution and sales, and tubular products. She was named Manager—Raw Materials in 2004, and advanced to her most recent position, General Manager—Procurement at U. S. Steel Kosice in 2006, where she oversaw all purchasing activities for the company's steelmaking operation in the Slovak Republic.
 
Grabe earned bachelor's degrees in accounting and finance from Robert Morris University in 1985. She completed her master's degree in business administration at Duquesne University in 1996.
