U. S. Steel Appoints Two to Executive Team
04/17/2018 - United States Steel Corporation attorney Richard L. Fruehauf has been named vice president of strategic planning and corporate development, the steelmaker said Monday.
In a statement, the company said Fruehauf will be responsible for creating and executing U. S. Steel’s strategy to achieve profitable growth. He’ll oversee U. S. Steel’s strategic planning and business development, innovation, governmental affairs, environmental affairs and sustainability, and corporate communications units.
“Rich has been a valuable contributor since joining our company,” U. S. Steel chief executive David Burritt said in a statement.
“His background and broad legal experience have contributed to several important financial and strategic projects, as well as to the enhancement of our environmental compliance and sustainability programs. He has been an important adviser to me while serving as interim general counsel during the last four months, and I look forward to working with him in this new, challenging and important capacity.”
Prior to U. S. Steel, Fruehauf held positions of increasing responsibility at Westinghouse Electric Co. and Alcoa. He also practiced law with the firm Cohen & Grigsby.
Fruehauf joined U. S. Steel in 2014 and had been serving as the interim general counsel and chief compliance officer.
That role is being permanently filled by Duane Holloway, who is joining the company as senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary, U. S. Steel said.
Holloway previously served as executive vice president and general counsel for women’s clothing retailer Ascena Retail Group.
