Timken to Increase Steel Bar and Seamless Tubing Prices

The Timken Corp. announced it will increase non-contract base prices for steel bar products by $25 per ton for all sizes and grades of carbon and alloy steel bars. Thermal treatment pricing extras will be increased by $30 per ton.

Timken will also increase non-contract base prices for seamless mechanical tubing products by 4% for all sizes and grades of carbon and alloy seamless tubing. For all double and triple thermal treated seamless tubing products, base prices will increase by 7%.

In addition, Timken will implement a natural gas surcharge using the monthly close NYMEX Natural Gas Contract Settlement price (Henry Hub Louisiana), as published in Platts Gas Daily by McGraw-Hill. A trigger point of $6.60 per MMBtu and a multiplier of 7.5 will be used to determine the surcharge amount.

Price changes become effective with shipments as of November 1, 2005. All other raw material surcharges will remain in effect.
