ThyssenKrupp Names New Chairman of Steel Americas Management Board
11/18/2009 - Hans Fischer will become Chairman of the Management Board of the Steel Americas business area effective February 1, 2010. He will assume the position originally intended for Erich Heine, who died in an air crash on June 1.
Hans Fischer, 53, currently a member of the executive board of Salzgitter AG, will become Chairman of the Management Board of the Steel Americas business area effective February 1, 2010. He will assume the position originally intended for Erich Heine, who died in an air crash on June 1.
The position is currently held in an acting capacity by Edwin Eichler, member of the Executive Board of ThyssenKrupp AG and Chairman of the Steel Europe business area.
The Steel Americas business area—comprised of ThyssenKrupp CSA Siderúrgica do Atlântico in Brazil and ThyssenKrupp Steel USA, LLC in the U.S.—focuses on the production, processing, and marketing of high-quality carbon steel in North and South America.
After startup of the plants currently under construction in Brazil, with an annual capacity of 5 million tonnes of slabs, and the U.S., with an annual hot-rolled capacity of 5 million tons, the Steel Americas business area will supply mainly the automotive and appliance industries in the NAFTA markets with high-quality flat steel products.
