Tenova Wins Bid to Upgrade SDI Electric Furnace Technology
07/16/2018 - Steel Dynamics Inc. has chosen Tenova technology to optimize the electric arc furnace at its Pittsboro, Ind., USA, plant, Tenova has announced.
The 100-ton EAF at SDI’s engineered bar mill will be outfitted with Tenova’s proprietary suite of technology, which includes the NextGen® off-gas analysis system, iEAF® dynamic process control system and Water Detection Technology (WDT®). The upgrade aims to increase productivity while reducing costs, power consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, Tenova said in a statement.
This is the second SDI facility to place an order for Tenova’s EAF technology, following a successful installation of the system at SDI’s flat-rolled mill in Butler, Ind., USA.
Work is to be completed in November 2018.
