Tenova Goodfellow to Supply EFSOP Technology for Ternium Hylsa, Tenaris Dalmine

Tenova Goodfellow Inc. (TGI) has been selected by Ternium Hylsa, Mexico, to supply an EFSOP® system for the electric arc furnace at the company’s Monterrey, Mexico, Flat Products facility.

EFSOP is an off-gas based process control system for EAFs that continuously measures and analyzes EAF off-gases including CO, CO2, H2, and O2 at the fourth hole for real-time closed-loop process control. Tenova Goodfellow says the system results in improved operations, energy savings, lower conversion costs, and safety benefits.

This is the third EFSOP order received from Ternium Hylsa. The first system was successfully installed in the EAF operating in Planta Norte (Apodaca), and the second system was placed in the Planos Monterrey plant monitoring the furnace operating with Tenova’s HYL–HYTEMP® continuous hot DRI charging.

Tenova Goodfellow will also supply a Goodfellow EFSOP system to Tenaris Dalmine, Bergamo, Italy. Project work will include development and implementation of closed-loop control in response to off-gas chemistry, with the ultimate goal of achieving a reduction in conversion costs and the optimization of productivity.
