SunCoke Reports Preliminary 4th Quarter U.S. Coke Production
01/09/2012 - SunCoke Energy reported preliminary U.S. coke production of an estimated 1,015 thousand tons for the fourth quarter of 2011, reflecting an increase of 100,000 tons versus the same period in 2010.
SunCoke Energy, Inc. reported preliminary U.S. coke production of an estimated 1,015 thousand tons for the fourth quarter of 2011, reflecting an increase of 100,000 tons versus the same period in 2010. The company said the increase reflects the startup of the new Middletown, Ohio, facility and improvement in the company’s Indiana Harbor operations.
The company noted that, excluding Middletown operations, its domestic cokemaking operations continued to run in excess of 100% of capacity.
For the full year 2011, total U.S. coke production is estimated to be 3,762 thousand tons. According to the company, the full-year increase was driven by the Middletown startup as well as strong performance at the company’s Granite City and Indiana Harbor operations.
The company tentatively plans to report fourth quarter 2011 financial results before market open on Thursday, February 2, 2012.
