Jeremy D. Wilson – 2022 Steel Premier Intern Scholar
I am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to work at Stelco in their Research Department. Over my internship I have been able to see first-hand the fascinating complexity and scale of steelmaking, and how critical teamwork and communication are to working in this field. Though what I have found the most assuring is the amount of effort that has been put into understanding how to reduce emissions and mitigate the impact of steel production on the environment. Through my experience, I’ve made direct contributions in communicating critical areas of improvement to carbon reduction strategies. No matter how small, I am glad to have been able to make a greener world. I have also been able to use artificial intelligence (AI) and other data-driven technologies to further improve efficiency and convey key information about steelmaking products. Overall, my time at Stelco has allowed me to see just how much innovation is going on in the steel industry, and I am overjoyed to be a part of it.
