Austin J. Olivier - 2019 Premier Scholar
I was a summer intern at SSAB Mobile and I worked in the heat treatment department. I reviewed the quality of our heat treated steel. Over the course of the summer, I had the opportunity to work on projects related to the quench and tempering temperatures of different grades. I was also given the chance to work on projects in other areas of the mill which gave me great experience in the overall steelmaking process. The opportunity to apply 
the skills I have learned in my classes to real world problems in the steel industry was fantastic. I would like to thank both AIST and SSAB for this summer internship opportunity. This summer has shown me the passion I have for the steel industry and I am excited to become a part of it following my graduation.
