Newly founded Zhejiang Southeast Metal Sheet Co. Ltd., P.R. China, has placed an order with SMS Demag for a six-high Compact Cold Mill (CCM).

The six-high CCM is SMS Demag’s most sophisticated and flexible version of its two-stand reversing mill. The mill, which features especially economical production of thin cold strip, is capable of achieving annual production of 500,000 tonnes at strip widths of approximately 1350 mm.

SMS Demag's scope of supply comprises the mechanical and electrical equipment, complete automation, and service.

Zhejiang Southeast Metal Sheet Co. Ltd. is the subsidiary of Zhejiang Southeast Space Frame Group. Using its CCM plant, Zhejiang mainly produces input stock for its parent company, which uses the strip steel for its hall building sector.

The order for one part of the fabrication has been awarded to a Chinese manufacturing partner, while Zhejiang has taken over the other part. The largest portion of the CCM will be manufactured in SMS Demag’s Hilchenbach works.

The first strip is scheduled to be rolled in summer 2006.
