Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga Increases Sales Volume by 23% in First Half of Year
08/09/2013 - Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga, (part of the Severstal Russian Steel Division) reported a 23% increase in sales volume up to 44,500 tonnes in the first half of 2013 compared with the first half of 2012.
The growth in sales volume has been supported by the launch of new projects and the increased productivity of current projects. The company has achieved its maximum capacity for cutting operations and in 2012 initiated a project to construct its second cutting line.
Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga currently supplies blanks for theGestamp-Severstal-Kaluga, Gestamp-Severstal-Vsevolozsk and Gestamp-Tolyattistamping facilities to produce vehicle parts for the Volkswagen Polo, Peugeot 408, Citroen C4, Ford Focus, Renault Sandero, Renault Duster, and Renault Fluence.
In June 2013 Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga began supplying blanks for manufacture of the Nissan Sylphy (brand known in Russia as Nissan Almera).
In the first half of 2013 the Cherepovets Steel Mill’s share in production at Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga increased to 40.8%.
Dmitriy Goroshkov, marketing and sales director of the Severstal Russian Steel Division, stated: “The increase in Severstal-Gonvarri-Kaluga’s production volume demonstrates that we’ve chosen the right strategy to improve the depth of steel product processing and manufacture more high value added products. It also improves the utilization rate of the Cherepovets Steel Mill with a greater share of high margin products.”
