Russula to Supply Automation for ArcelorMittal Long Carbon Divide Shear

Russula has received an order from ArcelorMittal Long Carbon, in Vinton, Texas, for the supply of a new automation system for their divide shear. The aim of the project is to replace the existing obsolete automation system and to increase both cut accuracy and yield.
 
Russula will supply the new shear control, implemented in an ABB AC800M PLC, as well as a new WonderWare HMI system and all required additional sensors. Russula is also responsible for supervision of installation as well as training and commissioning.
 
This new contract is part of an on-going improvement of this facility by Russula. To date, other upgrades have included Level 1 and 2 control for the reheat furnace as well as modernization of several millstand drives.
Russula has previously provided reheat furnace automation to ArcelorMittal Long Carbon in Tultitlan, Mexico.
 
Start up of the new automation system is scheduled for November, 2009.
