RG Steel Sparrows Point to Restart Galvanizing Line
03/06/2012 - RG Steel announced plans to restart the No. 2 Galvanizing Line at RG Steel Sparrows Point in early April.
RG Steel announced plans to restart the No. 2 Galvanizing Line at RG Steel Sparrows Point in early April, further expanding the plant’s already wide range of product offerings.
“Our customers have expressed interest in a broader range of products from Sparrows Point,” said Jerry Nelson, Chief Commercial Officer at RG Steel. “Based on their continued confidence in Sparrows Point’s capabilities, we are returning this line to service to meet their needs for a more complete range of galvanized products from one location.”
Sparrows Point’s No. 2 Galvanizing Line produces heavier gauge coated products in thicknesses from .022 to .097 inches and a maximum width of 48 inches. The line last operated in July 2010, after which it had been idled by a previous owner.
The company said it intends to move some galvanized orders from the facility’s No. 4 Galvanizing Line to the No. 2 line, allowing the No. 4 line to primarily run Galvalume.
