PTC Alliance to Expand Cold Drawn Tubing Production Capabilities
01/10/2012 - PTC Alliance Holdings will invest an additional $4 million in its facilities to create 30,000 tons of additional annual drawn-over-mandrel capacity.
PTC Alliance Holdings Corp. announced plans to invest an additional $4 million in its facilities to create an additional 30,000 tons of annual drawn-over-mandrel (DOM) capacity. The company said the increased capacity will be realized during the first half of 2012.
"Over the past two years our markets, both here in the U.S. and overseas, have been telling us they require access to more DOM product and we are vigorously responding to this challenge to enable us to continue providing excellent service and quality to our customers," said Cary Hart, PTC Alliance's President, North America. "Our existing network of strategically located DOM manufacturing plants has enabled us to achieve this capacity expansion very quickly and in a cost effective manner."
"Compared with new, green-field capacity we are achieving our expansion in a quarter of the time and at a fraction of the cost," Hart added.
Over the past two years, the company has achieved a number of significant milestones, including:
· Opening two previously idled facilities in Hopkinsville, Ky., and Chicago Heights, Ill., providing the company with four strategically located production centers
· Creating 423 jobs and increasing its headcount by 71%
· Investing $750,000 to refurbish a tube weld mill at its Chicago Heights facility, which is expected to come on-stream over the next few months
