Parsytec to Supply Third Inspection System for Severstal
06/20/2007 - Severstal orders a third surface inspection system from Parsytec, this one to be installed in the Cherepovets hot strip mill.
Severstal, Russia, has ordered a third surface inspection system from Parsytec. The newest system will to be installed in the Hot Strip Mill at Severstal’s Cherepovets, Russia, facility.
Both systems at Cherepovets — the new system as well as a previously supplied surface inspection system (SIS) at the facility’s Pickle Line No. 3. — will support the interchange quality information and thus provide a potential baseline for a mill-wide inspection infrastructure.
The new system will use espresso SI, Parsytec’s all-digital inspection solution, to deliver sharp images with high detection sensitivity and a system availability of 99.5%. Parsytec’s latest inspection software release HTS 5.1 complements the hardware solution with an automated classifier technology.
The system will thus facilitate quality management as an integrated part of the production chain. Parsytec says that additional application benefits will include decreased mill downtimes and higher throughputs by optimizing roll handling and the prevention of adding value to faulty material.
