Outokumpu to Acquire Avesta Klippcenter AB
06/26/2008 - Outokumpu Oyj signs agreement to acquire the operations of Avesta Klippcenter AB in Avesta, Sweden.
Outokumpu Oyj has signed an agreement to acquire the operations of Avesta Klippcenter AB in Avesta, Sweden, from its owners, the Lind family.
Avesta Klippcenter processes stainless steel material from Outokumpu's mills in Sweden for use in Avesta's meltshop.
Outokumpu said the acquisition will help it to boost its raw material handling capacity, and it also will allow it to secure competitive supply for the Avesta stainless steel meltshop.
Following the acquisition, the company said the Avesta Klippcenter facilities could be developed in line with the increasing production capacities at Avesta and other sites in Sweden.
Transfer of ownership is scheduled to take place on July 1, 2008.
