Nucor Welcomes Former Weirton Steel Chief to Board of Directors
12/11/2007 - Nucor announces the election of former Weirton Steel President and CEO John H. Walker to its board of directors, effective January 1, 2008.
Nucor Corp. announced the election of John H. Walker to its board of directors effective January 1, 2008.
Walker, 50, formerly served as President and CEO of both Weirton Steel and Boler, and currently serves as the CEO of Global Brass and Copper, a leading North American manufacturer and distributor of copper and copper-alloy products.
Walker joins the Nucor board with twenty-five years of industry experience, including serving as President of flat-rolled products at Kaiser Aluminum Corp., in addition to stints as President and CEO of The Boler Co. and Weirton Steel Corp. Walker also serves on the board of directors of Delphi Corp. and UAL Corp., the parent company of United Airlines.

Walker is a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute, and received his MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
Nucor and affiliates manufacture steel products from operating facilities primarily in the U.S. and Canada. Products include carbon and alloy steel bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; fabricated concrete reinforcing steel; cold finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; light gauge steel framing; steel grating and expanded metal; and wire and wire mesh. Nucor is North America's largest recycler.
