Nucleus LLC to Provide Melt Manufacturing System to Carpenter Technology
11/19/2007 - Nucleus LLC is providing a primary melting manufacturing execution system to Carpenter Technology that will bring together the Level 2 control functions of the existing EAF and vacuum induction melting facilities at the company’s Reading, Pa., facility.
Nucleus LLC is providing a primary melting manufacturing execution system (MES) to Carpenter Technology Corp. that will bring together the Level 2 control functions of the existing EAF and vacuum induction melting (VIM) facilities, as well as the new VIM furnace currently under construction at Carpenter’s Reading, Pa., facility.
The MES will replace several legacy systems related to execution, control, and data acquisition with one integrated system across the primary melting activities.
“Nucleus is very excited to work with Carpenter Technology to enhance their process control capabilities,” stated Sheldon Schake, Nucleus LLC’s Project Manager. “We believe Carpenter’s manufacturing operations will be improved through the use of the new MES integrated systems.”
Through the new MES, Carpenter will have real-time process monitoring and data reporting capabilities throughout the primary melting process.
Located in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Mansfield, Ohio, Nucleus LLC’s focus and experience are in real-time process control applications in the metals manufacturing, glass manufacturing, and transportation industries. Its employees are highly skilled in real-time and process control application development on Windows and VMS platforms, the design and development of graphical user interfaces, and the development and integration of new technologies with existing systems.
Carpenter Technology produces and distributes specialty alloys, including stainless steels, titanium alloys and super alloys, and various engineered products.
