Timken Posts Record Sales in Second Quarter

23 July 2004 - The Timken Co. reported net income of $25.3 million on record sales of $1.1 billion for the second quarter of 2004.

Timken and United Steelworkers Enter Early Contract Negotiations

22 July 2004 - The Timken Co. and the United Steelworkers union announced that they have agreed to enter early formal negotiations over the current labor contract, which expires in September 2005.

Timken Business Recommended for ISO-TS 16949:2002 Certification

15 July 2004 - The Timken Co.'s automotive group has been recommended for certification to ISO/TS 16949:2002. The company's 3rd party registrars made the recommendation after concluding its audits in June of 2004.

Timken Acquires Technical Services Group

14 July 2004 - The Timken Co. has acquired the assets of SES Technical Group, a division of SES, LLC. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Timken and Union Begin Discussions over Announced Plant Closures

16 June 2004 - The Timken Co. and United Steelworkers union met earlier this week to begin the effects bargaining process involving the Canton bearing plants. The parties also agreed to explore the possibility of opening formal negotiations for the current labor contract over the next few weeks.

Timken to Increase Tubing Steel Prices

09 June 2004 - The Timken Corp. announced it would increase prices on tubular steel products by 3-1/2 to 10%, depending on size, grade and finish of the steel. Double thermal-treated products will increase an additional 2%.

Timken to Increase Specialty Steel Prices

08 June 2004 - Timken Latrobe Steel announced it would increase prices by 4% on all air-melt stainless and remelted aerospace alloy steel grades. The price change is effective with all new orders received. Raw material surcharges will remain in effect.
