Preliminary Steel Imports Dip 5% in November

30 December 2010 - The U.S. imported a total of 1,784,000 net tons of steel in November, down 5% from October final data according to the latest report from AISI. Finished steel imports were down 6% over the same period.

EPA, DOJ and Indiana Reach Proposed Settlement on Westville, Ind., Superfund Site

30 December 2010 - U.S. EPA Region 5, U.S. DOJ, Indiana DEM and the Office of the Indiana Attorney General have reached a proposed settlement with a group of 13 potentially responsible parties who will pay for and complete the final phase of cleanup at the Cam-Or Superfund site in Westville, Ind.

AK Steel To Permanently Close Kentucky Coke Plant

Horsehead Zinc Smelter Returns to Full Production

22 December 2010 - Horsehead Corp. has restarted a sixth zinc smelting furnace at its facility in Monaca, Pa., returning the smelter to full production. The company expects to return to pre-incident zinc oxide production capability at its refinery in early January 2011.
