April Steel Shipments Down 7.7% from March

17 June 2010 - U.S. steel mills shipped 7,057,660 net tons for the month of April 2010, a 7.7% decrease from the previous month and a 74.6% increase from the 4,042,457 net tons shipped in April 2009, according to the latest report from AISI.

11 June 2010 - The United States International Trade Commission has determined that a U.S. industry is materially injured by imports of prestressed concrete steel wire strand from China that the U.S. Department of Commerce has determined are subsidized and sold at less than fair value.

SSINA Releases Market Data for February 2010

27 May 2010 - Total stainless steel imports reached 83,832 tons for YTD February 2010, a 32.2% increase compared to YTD February 2009 according to the latest report from SSINA. Total specialty imports (comprising stainless steel, alloy tool steel and electrical steel) were up 14.2% through the same period.

Commerce Finds Dumping, Subsidization of PC Strand from China

18 May 2010 - In the antidumping duty investigations on imports of prestressed concrete steel wire strand from China, the Department of Commerce has determined that Chinese producers/exporters have sold the product in the U.S. at 42.97 to 193.55%. In the countervailing duty case, Commerce determined that Chinese producers/exporters have received net countervailable subsidies ranging from 8.85 to 45.85%.

ITC to Uphold Duties on Stainless Wire Rod from Five Countries

17 May 2010 - The U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that revoking the existing antidumping duty orders on stainless steel wire rod from Italy, Japan, Korea, Spain, and Taiwan would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of material injury within a reasonably foreseeable time. Therefore, the existing orders will remain in place.

ITC Determines OCTG from China Injures U.S. Industry

04 May 2010 - The U.S. International Trade Commission has determined that U.S. industry is materially injured or threatened with material injury by imports of oil country tubular goods from China that Commerce has determined are sold at less than fair value. Commerce will therefore issue an antidumping duty order.

Commerce Initiates Circumvention Investigation on CTL Plate from China

30 April 2010 - The U.S. Department of Commerce is initiating an antidumping circumvention inquiry to determine whether imports of cut-to-length carbon steel plate from P.R. China are circumventing the duty order by containing small amounts of boron.

23 April 2010 - The Columbus, Ind., and Walbridge, Ohio, plants of AK Tube have received the Safety Award of Merit from the Fabricators and Manufacturers Association, International. The award annually recognizes companies for outperforming their industry's injury and illness rate by at least 10%.
