U.S. Imports Decline 14% from November to December

24 January 2013 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,339,000 tons of steel in December 2012, including 1,654,000 tons of finished steel (down 14% and 19%, respectively, from November final data).

08 January 2013 - The Canadian International Trade Tribunal found that the dumping of hot rolled carbon steel plate from China was likely to result in injury to the domestic market. The Canada Border Services Agency will therefore continue to impose antidumping duties on these products.

04 January 2013 - U.S. steel imports increased in November compared to October by 2% according to preliminary government data analyzed by the American Institute for International Steel (AIIS).

AISI: December U.S. Imports Down 11% from November

03 January 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that U.S. steel import permit applications for the month of December totaled 2,358,000 tons. This was a 10% decrease from the 2,615,000 permit tons recorded in November and down 11% from the November preliminary imports total of 2,659,000 tons.

02 January 2013 - Based on preliminary Census Bureau data, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that the U.S. imported a total of 2,659,000 tons of steel in November, including 1,988,000 tons of finished steel (up 2% and down 6%, respectively, from October final data).
