Knowledge Is Power. The Town Hall Forum Will Offer Plenty.
09/24/2020 - This year started off as a promising one for all in the steel indsutry, bringing the potential for full order books and healthy shipments.
Of course, the coronavirus pandemic and the resulting actions to mitigate its spread quickly changed that.
In a veritable blink of an eye, orders were canceled, millions of tons of capacity were taken off-line, and projects were postponed.
Since then, conditions have improved, but the recovery remains perilous, and uncertainty rules: Will the recovery continue? How will the pandemic alter the landscape for steel? What will become of the new capacity that’s planned?
To help answer those and other questions, AIST is bringing together five of the steel industry’s top leaders during a virtual event set for 30 September 2020. During the Virtual Town Hall Forum, we’ll ask five of the country’s most prominent steel producers to share their views on what’s likely to come.
“No presentations, just a healthy debate about opportunities and challenges for steel. This format for open, frank discussion with the industry’s leaders just isn’t available elsewhere,” said AIST executive director Ron Ashburn.
On the panel are David Burritt, president and chief executive officer of United States Steel Corporation; Lourenco Goncalves, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.; Mark Millett, president and chief executive officer of Steel Dynamics Inc.; Dan Needham, vice president and general manager of Nucor Steel–Indiana; and David Stickler, chief executive officer of Big River Steel.
