KMH Provides Rail Scale Control System for Essar Steel Algoma
04/07/2010 - For this project, KMH replaced a “black-box” style scale controller on a bidirectional, double-weighing, coupled-in-motion rail scale using a Rice Lake 920i weighing instrument, a ControlLogix PLC-based control system, and FactoryTalk View operator interface.
For this project, KMH replaced a “black-box” style scale controller on a bidirectional, double-weighing, coupled-in-motion rail scale using a Rice Lake 920i weighing instrument, a ControlLogix PLC-based control system, and FactoryTalk View operator interface.
The system was certified for trade shortly after commissioning.
KMH provided system hardware and software specifications, detailed installation design, PLC programming, HMI configuration, and commissioning and startup services. System highlights include:
- Intuitive windows-style operating environment featuring real-time device and scale status information and train database access
- Custom Excel train reports that are automatically printed and stored on the HMI computer at the completion of each train
- Maintenance access to scale control parameters such as dynamic weighing adjustments, speed limit set points, etc.
- Embedded system hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting tools.
