June Steel Shipments Up 12.1% from May
08/20/2009 - U.S. steel mills shipped 4,797,000 net tons in June, a 12.1% increase from May according to the latest report from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 4,797,000 net tons in June, according to the latest report from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The June total represents a 12.1% increase from the 4,282,000 net tons shipped in May and a 47.5% decrease from the 9,136,000 net tons shipped in June 2008.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
• Hot dipped galvanized sheet and strip, +27%
• Hot rolled sheet, +23%
• Cold rolled sheet, +15%
AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice.
