Japanese Steelmakers Might Face New Competition from China
07/13/2020 - Toyota has begun buying electrical steel from China Baowu Steel Group, a development that could mark the beginning of era in which Japanese steelmakers will have to compete with their Chinese counterparts on price in addition to quality, reports the Nikkei Asian Review.
According to the publication, the sales are believed to mark the first instance in which a major Japanese automaker is using Chinese-produced electrical sheet steel in passenger cars built in Japan.
