Gallatin Steel and its employees have contributed $105,490 to the tsunami relief effort in South Asia.
Gallatin Steel had pledged in January to match every dollar donated by employees to the United Way International Response, the American Red Cross and the Save the Children Tidal Wave Relief Fund. Employees responded to the company’s matching challenge and gave generously.
Said Gallatin Steel’s President, Don Daily, “In this terrible disaster, so many lost spouses, children, parents and friends, as well as their homes and livelihoods. I am very proud of our associates who opened their hearts and stepped up to help meet this tremendous need overseas.”
Located in Ghent, Ky., Gallatin Steel is a flat-rolled carbon steel producer employing approximately 400 people. The company is located on the banks of the Ohio River approximately one hour from Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, Ohio.
