EMG Automation to Install eMASS Strip Stabilization System for Corus Color
07/07/2008 - EMG Automation was recently awarded an order by Corus for the installation of an eMASS strip stabilization system at Myriad, the company’s Corus Color subsidiary in France.
EMG Automation GmbH, Germany, was recently awarded an order by Corus for the installation of an eMASS (electro- Magnetic Strip Stabilization) system at Myriad, the company’s Corus Color subsidiary in France.
Corus Color is the second largest producer of pre-lacquered and laminated steel strips in Europe, just after ArcelorMittal. In France, Myriad, is well known, particularly in the architecture business, for producing high quality, hot-dip galvanized sheets with organic coatings.
EMG’s eMASS system is being implemented as part of an optimization of the Myriad Continuous Galvanizing Line No. 2 air knife system by air knife supplier Danieli Kohler. The new system will support the company’s continued improvement measures by enhancing strip stabilization during production.
The eMASS-system minimizes oscillation and crossbow of the steel strip. Reducing fluctuations in the distance between the air knife and the strip during the coating process leads to increased accuracy. IN addition to optimizing coating homogeneity, the increased accuracy also helps to reduce nitrogen or air exertion, thus ensuring overall quality and enhancement of production.
The project will be implemented in the fourth quarter of 2008 and first quarter of 2009 in close cooperation with Danieli Kohler, who is responsible for mechanical integration of the eMASS-system in the air knife. The eMASS-construction aligns completely into Danieli Kohler’s preset framework for the air knife system.
This project follows EMG’s implementation of eMASS systems at ThyssenKrupp Steel AG and ArcelorMittal.
