December ’11 Steel Shipments Up 9.2% from November
02/20/2012 - U.S. steel mills shipped 8,085,761 net tons for the month of December 2011, a 9.2% increase from the 7,404,828 net tons shipped in the previous month according to the latest release from AISI.
U.S. steel mills shipped 8,085,761 net tons for the month of December 2011, according to the latest release from the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The December total represents a 9.2% increase from the 7,404,828 net tons shipped in the previous month, November 2011, and a 13.7% increase from the 7,111,031 net tons shipped in December 2010.
Full-year shipments for 2011 are 91,865,449, a 10.1% increase vs. 2010 full year shipments of 83,443,836.
A month-to-month comparison of shipments shows the following changes:
· Hot rolled sheet, +15%
· Hot-dip galvanized sheets and strip, +2%
· Cold rolled sheet, +2%
AISI serves as the voice of the North American steel industry in the public policy arena and advances the case for steel in the marketplace as the preferred material of choice.
