Corus Orders Parsytec System for Coupled Pickling-Tandem Line

Parsytec AG recently received an order for one espresso surface inspection solution from Corus Strip Products to equip the coupled pickling-tandem line in Port Talbot, U.K.

Parsytec will install the inspection system at the coupled pickling-tandem line, where it will help to eliminate surface visible material faults from former processing steps which had the potential to cause strip breaks at the tandem mill. As a result, machine down times, subsequent roll shop costs and material loss will be reduced.

The Port Talbot installation marks Parsytec’s 8th pickling inspection solution contract for 2004. Previous 2004 orders came from Steel Warehouse, one of the largest steel service centers in the USA; a daughter company of the LNM group; another U.S.-based steel producer; a U.S.-based steel service center; and Duferco.

Guenther Tolkmit, Parsytec Chief Operating Officer comments: "In today's market conditions, machine downtimes are very crucial, because steel producers can sell nearly everything they produce. Our methodology of pickling inspection reflects this and delivers reliable and rapid benefits focusing on such defects that can cause harm in subsequent production processes."

Headquartered in Aachen, Germany, Parsytec AG maintains subsidiaries in all major economic areas of the world. The company is exclusively focused on products supporting surface quality yield management. Concentrating on the steel, aluminum, and paper industries, and based on its technological leadership, Parsytec is responsible for more than 300 installations worldwide.
