Corus Invests in Parsytec Surface Quality System

Parsytec received an infrastructure order from Corus for implementing a comprehensive surface quality yield management landscape at Corus Packaging Plus (CPP).

The order comprises 40 Parsytec 5i licenses and seven surface inspection systems. With the order, Corus Packaging Plus, the largest tinplate producer in the world, will establish an improved system of inspection-based coil releasing. Corus has extensive experience with surface quality yield management from several years’ usage of surface inspection systems from various inspection vendors.

The seven inspection systems delivered to the Trostre and IJmuiden works will be installed at six tinning lines and one five-stand mill. Corus Packaging Plus is currently using Parsytec’s surface inspection solution at its tinning line EV14 in IJmuiden and ETL5 in Trostre. Consequently, the current order strives for establishing improved coil releasing at all of CPP’s tinning lines.

Corus’ centralized approach to surface quality yield management will utilize Parsytec 5i’s ability to easily combine local data of surface inspection and other quality measurement devices into centralized Surface Quality Yield Management applications, and thus generate integrated decision information. This will enable Corus to analyze and eliminate defect causes across all production lines and to establish a fully harmonized customer protection based on surface data.

Falk Kuebler, Parsytec CEO, comments: “We consider the now received order from Corus as a landmark order. With a tinplate production of more than 1 million tons per year, Corus is the largest tinplate producer in the world. This leading producer has now decided, in the context of improving its coil releasing processes to develop new paths also with respect to the software concepts applied. It makes us proud, that such an ambitious plan builds on our ground breaking Surface Quality Yield Management solution: Parsytec 5i – the Surface Excel.”
