CMC President and CEO to Address AISTech 2012 Attendees
04/17/2012 - Joseph Alvarado, President and CEO of Commercial Metals Company, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the AIST President’s Award Breakfast, part of AISTech 2012, North America’s largest gathering of steel industry personnel.
Joseph Alvarado, President and CEO of Commercial Metals Company, has been announced as the keynote speaker for the AIST President’s Award Breakfast on Tuesday, May 8 in the Thomas Murphy Ballroom at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Ga.
Alvarado is the former President of U.S. Tubular Products Inc. (a division of United States Steel Corp.) and was the President of Lone Star Technologies prior to its acquisition by U. S. Steel. He has held executive-level roles in operations, sales, and marketing and finance with Ispat North America (now ArcelorMittal), Birmingham Steel and Inland Steel. At Commercial Metals, Alvarado advanced in April 2011 from Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer. He assumed his current role of President and CEO in September 2011.
The President’s Award Breakfast is one of the signature events of AISTech 2012, North America’s largest gathering of steel industry personnel. The event, which will be held May 7–10 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, will offer a program with hundreds of technical presentations, an expansive exposition, multiple plant tours, a unique town hall forum and keynote presentations by industry business leaders.
The Technology Conference will showcase more than 400 presentations on all aspects of iron and steel manufacturing technology.
