ArcelorMittal Dofasco Invests $1.6 Million in Local Organizations
09/25/2012 - ArcelorMittal Dofasco announced the company is investing $1.6 million in 31 community organizations in the region.
ArcelorMittal Dofasco President and CEO Juergen Schachler announced the company is investing $1.6 million in 31 community organizations in the region. The organizations will each receive a grant from the company’s Corporate Community Investment Fund.
The announcement was made at an event at the Art Gallery of Hamilton’s Design Annex on James Street North and comes just weeks before the company celebrates its 100th Anniversary on September 27, 2012.
"I believe steel was, and remains, a key pillar of Hamilton’s economy," Schachler said in his remarks. "And at ArcelorMittal Dofasco, we know that our success is strongly tied to that of the city’s. This is why building Community Strength is a longstanding tradition for our company."
Each year, the company and its employees invest up to $3 million in organizations in the region through its Corporate Community Investment and Employee Donations Funds as well as Event Sponsorships.
"I want to thank the grant recipients for tremendous work they are doing in Hamilton," Schachler said. "Collectively, their programs directly impact hundreds of thousands of people. They are enriching our community and changing lives. I believe that together we are transforming tomorrow… building a better and more sustainable Hamilton."
