Andritz to Supply Anneal-Pickle Line, Rolling Mill to ThyssenKrupp Nirosta
04/03/2012 - ThyssenKrupp Nirosta has placed an order with Andritz to supply an annealing and pickling line as well as a rolling mill for its works in Krefeld.
ThyssenKrupp Nirosta has placed an order with Andritz to supply an annealing and pickling line as well as a rolling mill for its works in Krefeld.
The new annealing and pickling line will process up to 400,000 tonnes of hot-rolled strip (AISI 200, 300, and 400 series stainless steel with strip thicknesses of 1.5 to 10.0 mm) as well as 290,000 tonnes of cold-rolled strip (in strip widths up to 1,600 mm at thicknesses of 0.5 to 6.0 mm). In addition to the terminal equipment, scale breaker, and skinpass mill, the Andritz scope of supply also includes the pickling line, degreasing line, furnace, and the complete electrical equipment, including automation.
The new 20-high rolling mill, which will be based on a proven four-column design, will be sized for rolling stainless steel strip in thicknesses ranging from 0.3 to 8.0 mm, strip widths of 900 to 1,600 mm, and a rolling speed of 800 meters/min. In addition to the mechanical equipment, Andritz also will supply the mill’s complete electrical equipment, including automatic flatness measuring and control system, strip thickness control, and the process optimization system.
The new contract between ThyssenKrupp Nirosta and Andritz follows many years of cooperation between the two companies. Andritz Metals has previously supplied nine annealing and pickling lines ThyssenKrupp Nirosta as well as five 20-high rolling mills.
The announced order is valued in the upper two-digit million Euro range. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2014.
