Allegheny Technologies Announces Executive Appointments

L. Patrick Hassey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Allegheny Technologies Inc., has announced that effective August 1, 2010, Richard J. Harshman, 54, will become President and Chief Operating Officer. He will report to Hassey.
 
Harshman has served as Executive Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer since 2003. He has served as CFO since 2001.
 
Harshman will have operating responsibility for ATI’s High Performance Metals, Flat-Rolled Products, and Engineered Products business segments as well as Strategic Sourcing, Information Technologies, Investor Relations, and ATI’s Trust Investment Council, which is responsible for the company’s pension investment strategies.
 
“Rich Harshman’s personal values, judgment, business acumen, and 32 years of industry and ATI experience make him exceptionally well qualified to fill this newly created position,” said Hassey.
 
Dale G. Reid, 54, has been named Senior Vice President, Finance and Principal Financial Officer of ATI, also reporting to Hassey. Reid will be responsible for the company’s worldwide accounting, treasury, tax, and internal audit functions.
 
Reid has been with ATI for 29 years and has been serving as Vice President, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer and Treasurer since December 2003.
 
Elliot S. Davis, 47, has been named Vice President and General Counsel of the company, reporting to Jon D. Walton, Executive Vice President, Human Resources, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer, and Corporate Secretary.
 
Davis has been Assistant General Counsel since 2008. Prior to joining ATI, he had been a partner of K&L Gates for more than 20 years in their Corporate, M&A and Securities Group.
 
Promotions of key individuals reporting to Reid are: Karl D. Schwartz, 46, was named Controller and Principal Accounting Officer of ATI. Schwartz has been serving as Assistant Controller of ATI and has been with the company for eight years. Rose Marie Manley, 54, was named Treasurer. She has been with the company for 12 years and formerly served as Assistant Treasurer, Treasury Operations.
