AK Steel Earns Supplier
Awards
from Toyota
March 3, 2004 — AK Steel has, for the 10th consecutive year, earned dual supplier awards from Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TMMNA).
The awards, Superior in Quality and Superior in Delivery for 2003 performance, were presented this week at Toyota's annual Supplier Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony in Covington, Ky.
The dual awards presented to AK Steel officials Monday night also mark the sixth consecutive year that AK Steel has earned Toyota's highest level of recognition, Superior, for both quality and delivery categories.
"Launching three new North American-built vehicles in the same calendar year was extremely challenging," said Osamu "Simon" Nagata, Vice President of Purchasing for TMMNA. "Our success in 2003 would have been impossible without the remarkable work of our suppliers," Mr. Nagata said.
AK Steel surpassed an aggregate of 300 consecutive months with 100% on-time delivery performance to the Toyota and Lexus plants it serves in Kentucky, Indiana, California and Ontario, Canada. AK Steel supplies steel for the Camry, Avalon, Sienna, Sequoia, Corolla, Tundra, Tacoma, Solara, Matrix and Lexus RX 330 vehicles produced in North America.
Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets, as well as tubular steel products.
