Aug. 10, 2006 — AK Steel announced it will add a $270 per ton surcharge to invoices for electrical steel products shipped in September 2006.

AK Steel’s September 2006 surcharges are available on the company's website.

The company notes that its surcharges are based on reported prices for the raw materials and energy used to manufacture the products. July 2006 purchase costs were used to determine the September 2006 surcharges.

Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
