AIST notes the passing of Robert J. Jones, former Vice President of Operations for Bethlehem Steel Corp., following an extended illness.
Jones, 66, was employed by Bethlehem Steel for 37 years. He worked in the company’s plants and corporate offices in Johnstown, Bethlehem, Sparrows Point, Steelton, and Burns Harbor.
He was a Past President and Board of Directors Member of the Iron & Steel Society (ISS), and also served on the Board of Trustees of the American Institute of Mechanical, Metallurgical & Mining Engineers (AIME).
The family has established a Scholarship Fund in his name at Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, Pa.
