AIST Foundation Announces New Scholarship
06/01/2005 - The AIST William E. Schwabe Memorial Scholarship has been established with a generous endowment from the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA).
The AIST William E. Schwabe Memorial Scholarship has been established with a generous endowment from the Steel Manufacturers Association (SMA).
Clyde P. Selig, President and CEO of Commercial Metals Steel Group, Donald B. Daily, President of Gallatin Steel Co., and Thomas A. Danjczek, President of the SMA, have led the effort through SMA member companies, to establish this scholarship to commemorate the life and industry service of Mr. Schwabe, a true pioneer in the application of electrical engineering technology to the advancement and refinement of electric arc furnace steelmaking.
The scholarship will be awarded annually to an undergraduate student enrolled full-time and majoring in the field of engineering, metallurgy or materials science at an accredited North American university.
AIST Foundation scholarships are intended to attract talented and dedicated students and to encourage them to pursue careers within the iron and steel and steel-related industries.
