Aceros Arequipa Restarts Upgraded Meltshop

Operations were recently restarted at the upgraded 40-tonne EAF at Aceros Arequipa, Peru.
The project, carried out by Danieli Centro Met, included upgrading the EAF with new electrode regulation, complete automation system, and new burnjector and burners for improved chemical energy utilization. Danieli’s scope of supply also included a new fume treatment plant for the EAF and LF, as well as comprehensive modernization of the conticaster technological area with a new automation system.
The EAF modernization was part of a meltshop upgrade aimed at increasing production output to approximately 400,000 tonnes per year and improving billet quality. The Pisco minimill also includes a 320,000 tonnes per year bar, light section and wire rod mill upgraded by Danieli Morgårdshammar in 2002 and completed in 2004 with the installation of a high-speed wire rod line.
