The AIST Member Chapter Outstanding Service awards are awarded annually, given there is an acceptable candidate in that year. The purpose of the award is to recognize an individual within each member chapter that has gone “above and beyond” their responsibilities within the local region. The awards are promoted through AIST and winners are published in an issue of Iron & Steel Technology.

  • Only AIST members may nominate a candidate, unless noted.

  • Only active AIST members are eligible to receive the award.

  • For all award candidates, there are no restrictions with respect to nationality, citizenship, race, gender, occupation, creed or age.

  • Nominee must be a member of the chapter in which the award is presented.

  • A standard nomination form shall be completed for each nominee.

  • Nomination forms will be collected and held in confidence at AIST headquarters for distribution to the AIST Member Chapter executive committee.

  • The AIST Member Chapter executive committee shall select the final recipient from the candidate nominations received. Electronic ballot may be used to determine award recipient.

  • Executive committee members may be nominated.

  • A recipient shall be selected annually for each award, provided a qualified candidate is nominated.

  • Unless otherwise noted, AIST headquarters shall notify, in writing, the candidate and principal nominator.

  • All awards will be presented during a member chapter meeting, unless otherwise noted.

  • Each member chapter will be responsible for the cost of each Award plaque. Awards presented will be a 9" x 12" x .75" ebony mounted, engraved plaque. The awards cost approximately US$170 plus shipping and handling and would be billed to the chapter.

  • Recipients will be featured in the magazine write-up for the event at which the award is presented. Chapter award recipients will also be included in the AISTech President’s Award Breakfast printed program and the following July issue of Iron & Steel Technology magazine.

The timeframe for the Awards program is as follows:

  • Deadline for submission is 30 June

  • Selection of awardee: 31 July

  • Presentation of Award by Chapter: Chapter meeting following selection of nominee.
