Benjamin E. Kowing
Vice President and Chief Technical Officer

Ben Kowing is the vice president and chief technical officer for SSAB Americas. He provides leadership to R&D, quality assurance and other technical functions, and is based at the SSAB R&D facility in Iowa. Kowing began his career at the LTV Steel Technology Center in 1990, moved to Alcoa in 2001, and came to SSAB in 2009. He has held a wide variety of roles in research, technical support, applications development, market development, continuous improvement, and operations management. He has worked in the U.S., Japan and Sweden. Kowing holds a B.S. degree in materials science and engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Weatherhead School of Management.
