Guus Kessler has served as managing partner, co-founder and senior consultant with DAREL Consultancy since 2016, realizing and supporting industry with their energy transition pathways and transformation to the new economy. Since 2021, Kessler has been project director for Tata Steel Europe, accountable for a multibillion high-profile project to decarbonize Tata Steel Ijmuiden by converting the blast furnaces to H₂ operation. The scope includes the design and installation of direct reduction plants and reducing electric furnaces in complex and highly congested brownfield environment. Prior to DAREL, Kessler served as vice president of Shell International from 1992 to 2016 in various mega-project delivery roles, including business development, project assurance and CO₂ management.
