Dr. Bettina Hübschen has more than 20 years of work experience, mostly in strategic positions in the aluminum and steel industry and profound knowledge of the hydrogen industry. She studied metallurgy at RWTH Aachen with a focus on non-ferrous metallurgy. After gaining her Ph.D. in this field, she joined McKinsey’s Basic Materials Practice. She then worked for Hydro Aluminium in their rolled products business unit before she joined thyssenkrupp Steel Europe in 2007. After positions in strategy and raw materials procurement, she joined the decarbonization unit in 2020 and from 2021 headed the hydrogen and green energy strategy and procurement team. Since May 2023, she has been managing director of the Saarland Hydrogen Agency and took over the responsibility for the hydrogen strategy development and implementation of the Saarland.
