Global Crude Steel Production Up 2.7% Year-on-Year in July
20 August 2013 - World crude steel production for the 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 132 million tonnes in July 2013, an increase of 2.7% compared to July 2012.
2012 Was Record Year for Global Stainless Production, But Increase Uneven
02 August 2013 - The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has released preliminary figures for 2012 which show that stainless steel production grew by 5.2% to reach a record high of 35.4 million metric tonnes. China accounted for the increase in production, with other regions of the world showing negative growth, mainly due to de-stocking.

May U.S. Steel Shipments Up From April, Down from Prior Year
16 July 2013 - The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the month of May 2013, U.S. steel mills shipped 8,047,245 tons, a 0.9% increase from the 7,978,531 tons shipped in the previous month, April 2013, and a 4.6% decrease from the 8,436,831 tons shipped in May 2012.

09 April 2013 - According to the South East Asia Iron & Steel Institute (SEASI), apparent steel consumption in the ASEAN region (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam) is estimated to have surged by 7.6% y-o-y to 56.4 million tonnes in 2012.
