Siemens Delivers Secondary Dedusting System for Severstal Converter
22 February 2012 - Siemens VAI Metal Technologies received an order from OAO Severstal to install a secondary dedusting system in the converter steelmaking plant at the Cherepovets production site. The new secondary dedusting system is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2015.
Baosteel Cuts SO2 Emissions by 50% in Four Years
16 February 2012 - According to its latest statistics, Baosteel Co., Ltd. has cut total SO2 emissions by over 50% since 2008. Its SO2 emissions in 2008 exceeded 30,000 tonnes, while in 2011 the emission was 15,000 tonnes.

Metinvest to Invest $8 Billion at Mariupol-Based Steel Works
08 February 2012 - Metinvest has announced plans to invest on average $1 billion every year through 2020 in development of its Azovstal and Iliych iron and Steel Works. The investments will help the company expand annual steel output by 35% at the two facilities.

25 October 2011 - ArcelorMittal Ostrava has completed the installation of a new deduster system at its sinter plant three months before the scheduled date. The investment will cut dust emissions from the Sinter Plant North to less than 20 mg/m3 (from the present 50 mg/m3).

18 October 2011 - ОАО Severstal launched a major environmental project aimed at reducing atmospheric emissions at the Cherepovets Steel Mill. It signed an agreement with Siemens VAI Metals Technologies to supply and install a sophisticated system for capturing emissions from plant converters, to be installed over the next four years.
