Young Professionals and Board Virtual Mentor Mixer
2023The Young Professionals Steering Committee hosted the third annual Young Professionals and Board Virtual Mentor Mixer on Wednesday, 13 September 2023. The event’s objective is to provide an opportunity for networking across multiple generations and to help AIST’s Young Professional members learn firsthand from the board members’ collective experience. Throughout the session, a total of 45 AIST Young Professional and student member attendees had the opportunity to engage in open dialogue, network, and learn from nine participating representatives from the AIST Board of Directors and AIST Foundation Board of Trustees. 2022The second annual AIST Young Professionals and Board of Directors Virtual Mentor Mixer was held on Wednesday, 9 March 2022. The event’s objective is to provide an opportunity for networking across multiple generations and to help AIST’s Young Professional members learn firsthand from the board members’ collective experience. Throughout the session, AIST Young Professional members had the opportunity to engage in open dialogue, network, and learn from seven participating representatives from the AIST Board of Directors and AIST Foundation Board of Trustees. The 39 Young Professional participants were split into seven virtual breakout rooms, through which the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees members rotated over a 90-minute period. Once again, the post-event survey responses proved the event was a success! The survey had a 54% response rate, which is one of the highest, if not the highest, survey response rates for an AIST post-event survey. Attendees shared the following:

2021On 7 April 2021, AIST hosted a Young Professionals and Board of Directors Mentor Mixer virtually via Zoom. The event’s objective was to provide an opportunity for networking across multiple generations, and to help the AIST Young Professional members learn firsthand from the board members’ collective experience. Throughout the session, AIST Young Professional members had the opportunity to engage in open dialogue, network with and learn from nine participating representatives from the AIST Board of Directors and AIST Foundation Board of Trustees. The 47 Young Professional participants were split into nine virtual breakout rooms, through which the Board of Directors and Board of Trustees members rotated over a 90-minute period. All feedback has proven that the event was a great success! The post-event survey had a 38% response rate. All Young Professional survey respondents felt that the breakout room discussion was valuable and relevant to their careers. They also all agreed that they would be interested in attending a similar event in the future and would recommend it to a colleague or industry peer. ►Iron & Steel Technology Event Recap |
