AK Steel Announces Carbon Steel Price Increases

March 5, 2007 — AK Steel announced it will increase spot market prices for carbon hot-rolled steel by $30 per ton, and cold-rolled and coated steel prices by $20 per ton for all new orders accepted for shipment on and after April 1, 2007.

The increases are in addition to two previous price increases totaling $70 per ton that were announced earlier this year for all spot market carbon steel products.

The company also said that it is increasing its price extras for critical exposed cold-rolled and coated carbon steel products by $10 per ton, to $105 per ton, also effective with orders accepted for shipment on and after April 1, 2007. The price extras are for products used primarily for outer body automotive and light truck panels.

Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
