AK Steel Announces Carbon Steel Price Increase
01/10/2008 - AK Steel will increase spot market prices by an additional $50 per ton for its carbon steel products for new orders accepted for shipment on February 1, 2008 and later.
AK Steel announced that it will increase spot market prices by $50 per ton for its carbon steel products. The increase will take effect for all new orders accepted for shipment on February 1, 2008 and later.
This increase is in addition to the $30 per ton increase for carbon steel products that was announced in mid-December, which is also effective with February 1, 2008 shipments.
AK Steel said that it is making the price increase in response to increased demand for carbon steel products, as well as the need to recover higher costs for steelmaking inputs.
AK Steel produces flat-rolled carbon, stainless and electrical steel products, as well as carbon and stainless tubular steel products, for automotive, appliance, construction and manufacturing markets.
